City Chauffeur

We have an employee art show every year. City employees will loan one of their art pieces for display and there is a reception. One year a crazy woman with Multiple Chemical Sensitivity Disorder(MCSD) entered one of her paintings. The guy that drives the city car around, distributing mail and checks and such, was told to take Miss MCSD down to City Hall along with her painting.

After the art show he had to bring her back. We were standing at the delivery door when they pulled up. Miss MCSD was sitting in the backseat of the car. This is unusual, as when he gives us rides someone generally sits in the front, but maybe she wanted to hang on to her artwork or something.

Miss MCSD is a weird looking, librarianish, very prim and proper lady. One of my Black co-workers was outside smoking. She looked at the car as it pulled up and as she bent over laughing she said, "He's driving Miss Daisy!"

Yup, you are nasty all right. You must be so miserable inside yourself to talk about others like that. People with MCS are not crazy. Librarians and prim/proper people are not crazy. Labling people as "crazy" shows your own ignorance of their culture, personality, and beleifs. Just because someone is not a carbon copy of you does not make them "crazy". If that were the case, sicne it's socially unacceptable to make posts like this and treat people in such disdainful ways, then the rest of the world views YOU as crazy. Unless they open their eyes and shun ingnornace and see this for the pitiful act to get attention at the expense of an innocent woman that it is. What's the purpose of this post?

One reason could be that MCS is by many a quack diagnosis. Are you a quack too ... ANON?

If MissC is crazy ... I don't want to be sane.

Sound like a good song!

If you are going to make a statement about "crazy" as is your wont, be consistent. Generally as a rule, people that use quotations in type are saying it in their head, yet then you use CAPS, so Im not sure if you had a point. What were you saying......

I second Jack's comment. I don't suffer from insanity, I thoroughly enjoy every minute of it. And Miss C is bringin' commonsenseBack, 'cuz the other trolls don't know howta act. Take it to the club!

Well, I think it goes without saying that Miss C is insane, how could she not be, but then again, Im not a regular here, so picking her mind and considering her enviroment...

.....if only she were only a little older and might dig her....

Sounds like you need some education about chemical sensitivity. For one thing, people with chemical sensitivity aren't crazy, their immune system is unable to handle the many pollutants in our world today. Ironically, many people who once thought that such a condition must be psychosomatic now suffer the same problems themselves. For many, it's only a matter of time before their own immune systems can no longer bear the load of all the toxins permeating our modern lives.
It should be noted that, while half the medical population considers MCS a "quack" diagnosis, it is extremely common for new ideas/diagnoses to be scorned by the medical profession and society in general. The most recent example was the discovery of Helicobacter pylori as the root cause of peptic ulcers. This discovery was immediately rejected initially; it is now accepted as fact. Most notably might be the work of Robert Koch, best known for the germ theory of disease and his discovery of Mycobacterium tuberculosis. The backlash from the public and the medical establishment was marked, and -of course- proven later to be unwarranted.
Many, many ailments and treatments have been initially mocked. Obviously, MCS is one of them. This does not disprove its validity.

Those who mock others seldom have a real interest in learning the truth about their issues, but if you are one of the rare few, check this site: http://www.multiplechemicalsensitivity.org/

As "...driving Miss Daisy!" relates to crazy people. My seventh grade teacher told me that when I grew up I was going to end up "picking daisies" at the local mental hospital.

Oh well. My hormones must have gotten in balance. At least until I turned 40 and my hormones started to crash.

I think that I am slowly turning into a woman. If I do, I am going to experiment with lesbianism.

People with Multiple Chemical Sensitivity have medical problems that are triggered by several different substances. "Multiple" means the same thing as "many." They may also have more than one problem. Examples of these problems are asthma, seizures, migraines and skin disorders such as hives.

If you don't not think that asthma, seizures, migraines and skin disorders can be caused by exposure to chemical substances, you will have to argue with the Mayo Clinic, the Barrow Neurological Institute and the United States Government, which treats veterans who develop MCS after explosure to chemical weapons.

hey Miss C,
Yeah, isn't it fun to pick on people different from you and label them "crazy" just because you don't understand what they're going through?! Thank god for blogs where we can post any ol' crap we want to and there will always be people who agree with us!! Yippee!!

Now I don't know Miss Daisy and I don't know if she's crazy. But I sure know about MCS and I know that MCS does not equal crazy. It is a serious, debilitating condition that affects several organ systems and has ruined many lives. This type of ignorance adds insult to injury. Imagine posting the same comments about someone because they were diagnosed with cancer or emphysema. Seems cruel and unnecessary and totally uncalled for, huh?! Well, it's the same damn thing.

Maybe if you would forego your hair spray and perfume, Miss Daisy wouldn't seem so crazy. You better pray hard you never get MCS, because it sure ain't fun to have your physical existence threatened and then to be ridiculed for it. Spread peace, not ignorance.

Uh I work at the library and librarians look like librarians. People with multiple chemical disorder have a disorder alright that is they are effing crazy and stupid to boot. Prim and proper people are crazy too. In fact everybody's crazy, you sound especially crazy! Get over yourself! That bitch with MCSD made our lives hell and she got her ass fired for being a crazy bitch and destroying library property. All people with supposed MCSD are fakers and lunatics who deserve to be commited. There is no such thing as MCSD.

Miss Carnivorous, I'm terribly sorry you met an unpleasant person. I suppose that kind of thing happens.

As to the comments here, MCS sufferers make very poor PR people because they typically don't feel very good. Poisoning'll do that to you.

Hey, I have a blog, and I'm siding with crazy people! Come on over, there's gotta be something to make fun of over there....

oh yeah, I get hives from touching raw shrimp. My hands swell up like baseball mitts. But if it's cooked I can eat it. I just can't touch it even when I am using it for bait. That is a real allergy. Physical proof!

You do realize that there IS physical proof of MCS, don't you?
Inflammation of the airways and face is just one symptom that serves as empirical evidence that MCS is a physical condition. But, despite this, one need not exhibit such obvious symptoms to prove illness. What symptoms are evident and testable when one complains of migraine?)

It's terribly sad that stupidity isn't painful. Then those of us who are exposed to your ignorance could at least take comfort in the knowledge that you suffer for it, too.

Yes, um, Miss C is notoriously stupid. Everyone she comes into contact with says so!

Ain't it funny how YOU need physical proof of pain or airway constriction to believe in someone's suffering, when most of the world puts blind faith in a god/gods that there is absolutely no proof of? Interesting. I take it you're an atheist?

Maybe you should do some research before you spew. People with MCS suffer heart attacks, seizures, and death. It's no joke Miss C. But I am guessing your blog is cause noone I know is this damn ignorant.

"People with MCS suffer heart attacks, seizures, and death." So do cats. Maybe there is some correlation.

For the same amount of money to treat MCS, physicians, drugs and dysfunctionality, someone can afford to move somewhere away from all of the chemicals and contaminants plus eat organic foods. If you are so informed, then you should use your intellect to survive before true survival of the fittest occurs.
